Definitive Care
The Definitive Care Committee will meet every other RTAC meeting to work on the following objectives:
- Level III & IV hospitals develop a list of what patients they are able to keep (ie provider specific).
- Level II hospitals develop a daily list (communicated to Connect here and/or ED) of what patients they can accept (ie provider specific) to prevent double transfer or multiple transfers.
- Establish guidelines of required diagnostic imaging of major trauma patients prior to transfer to a Level II hospital from a Level III or IV hospital.
- Annually review the State Triage & Transport Guidelines to make any changes unique to the trauma population in the NCRTAC based on ongoing literature and PI activities.
- Establish a process for feedback to referring hospitals and prehospital providers from the receiving trauma service in a timely manner (keep as a standard agenda item).
- Provide direction to the PI Committee for data collection to improve care of trauma patients in the NCRTAC area.
